This has been a really wild month.  From deciding to launch Mary Katherine Cox Photography, to learning editing software, learning manual technique..you name it and I am learning it!  Big photo session coming soon and I am thrilled.  My darling Kristen is styling the session and without you I could never have pulled next Saturday off!  Thanks for all of your love and support and the most creative and beautiful surprises for clients (not giving it away yet!)
I also finished my first complete edited CD of my dear friend Suellen's daughter's bday party.  So for the first time I planned, shot, edited, and burned the disk.  A complete project!  I could not be having more fun, and my dear and supportive husband Sean has been vital to starting the business.  His love, advice, cheering on and enthusiasm have been amazing.  And my dear Brady, the subject in almost all photos, is truly my inspiration.
Tomorrow is a huge day and pics to come tomorrow night!  Off to bed!

Photo Shoot Day

Today I was scheduled with Brady and Victoria for my first real photoshoot, and the weather ruined it!  We are on standby for tomorrow.  So I decided that instead of being sad that I would start snapping inside.  Consequently, I took my favorite picture to date and learned loads about indoor lighting. These are the pics I took today!  Next week I have 8 people coming to my first mini and I am praying for sun. Weather channel says my wish will come true so we shall see!!

So these "actions" are preset edits that you sort of "plug in" to your pictures.  They are created by photographers.  For the past 2 days I thought that I was using them correctly but wasn't really too impressed with the results.  Well I just found an online tutorial and now I know how to utlize them. I could work on this 100 hours a week and still not know a damn thing!!  Here is what I did using "bright eyes" action for PS.

Today was wild and crazy

The carpenter/handyman was here all day with another guy replacing our front door all day.  Brady loved "assisting" them so we decided to go and take some pictures and get out of the house for a while.  This picture is one of my faves because he looks a little mischevious- and for those of you who don't know Brady- he loves being mischevious!  I thought this one really captured his amazing personality!  This was that same field on Clay Road.

Wecome to my new obsession.....

Hi guys- I am Mary Katherine and I have recently fallen in love with photography.  I obsessively take pictures of my child, Brady, who will turn 4 in March.  I am a Canon shooter, I use the EOS xsi.  I adore it and this camera basically fell into my lap thanks to a dear friend.  I am following photography blogs, specifically Liz Labianca out of Frisco, Texas, soaking up as much knowledge as humanly possible. I also follow Ryan Flores, who has taken many pictures of my family and she is just incredible.  I am in the process right now of learning exactly what my camera can do which is a LOT to learn.  Yesterday I shot completely manual for the first time and got some of the best images so far.  I was on auto for several months and have recently began to start understanding what is really happening in terms of shutter speed, aperature, and ISO.  So I would love for you to take this journey with me as I aspire to convert this hobby into a substantial business someday soon....Thank you for visiting my blog and here are the images that I am most proud of (and will actually post).
